BERND VOSS biography

What do you get when you mix Bach, Hollywood and Flamenco?
Meet BERND VOSS, German guitar player and current resident of Seville in Spain.
After completing his studies at music conservatories in Hamburg and Bremen Voss headed for Los Angeles, California to broaden his guitar playing horizons. (He was later to return to Los Angeles in 1995 to record his acclaimed first solo album CRAVINGS featuring top session players Carlos Vega (dr), Jimmy Johnson (bass), Lenny Castro (perc) and David Scott (p)).
On his return to Europe Voss toured and recorded with a variety of established, major artists - Dionne Warwick, Umberto Tozzi, N-Sync, Bonnie Tyler - finally settling in Seville where he immediately sought and found access to the budding, vibrant New Flamenco scene there.
In Spain he continues to work with major artists: Miguel Rios, Luis Fonsi, Valderrama, Los del Rio to name but a few.
Voss also finds time to pursue and develop his own musical interests. After more than a decade living and playing in and round Seville - the undisputed cradle of Flamenco - he has now released SIESTA EN SEVILLA. This is an excellent album of collaborations recorded over the years with some of the most influential, contemporary Flamenco musicians from the region: guitarists Jose Antonio Rodriguez (Alejandro Sanz) and Manolo Franco - pianists Alberto Miras , Jesus Lavilla and Manuel Marvizon - Alameda founding member Luis Moreno and Tarifa based DJ Ismael Venegas.

The result is a blend of acoustic and flamenco guitars, backed up by cajons and chill loops and surrounded by Flamenco pianos and even some occasional “Quejíos” (flamenco vocal ad libs), which makes it possible for you to enjoy a real SIESTA EN SEVILLA, although you are not there (anyways, VOSS recommends going there to get an ever deeper impression of what his music transmits).
